Happy Thursday from Melissa Beiler’s dog!

Happy Thursday Bagel Bites,

Bayou Bakery is kicking things off with free beignets for its 15th anniversary (arguably the best kind of celebration), and Arlington’s food scene is having a moment with three big openings: Maman in Courthouse, Neko Panchi Sushi in Rosslyn, and Life Alive Organic Café in Ballston. Add in Live Music Fridays, a cozy neighborhood holiday market, and a guide to where to snag your Christmas tree, and your weekend plans basically write themselves.

📅 Your Weekend in Arlington

Thursday

🍩 Bayou Bakery’s 15th Anniversary — Courthouse (Nov. 20, 7 AM–10 PM)
Bayou Bakery is turning 15, and they’re celebrating the only acceptable way: free beignets. Swing by anytime this Wednesday for a hot, powdered-sugar-covered treat on the house. They’ll also be running foodie giveaways and specials throughout the day, so it’s a perfect excuse to pop over to Courthouse and pretend beignets count as breakfast (they do).

Friday

🎶 Live Music Fridays — Westover Market Beer Garden (5863 Washington Blvd, Arlington, 6–9 PM)
Friday night plans just got easy: hit Westover Beer Garden for open-air live music, a craft-beer tap list, and full patio vibes. It’s a local favorite for the Arlington 20-somethings crew — casual, fun and reliably good. Info HERE

Saturday

🎁 Holiday Market – Barcroft Apartments (Nov. 22, 9:30 AM–12:30 PM)
Swing by Barcroft Apartments, 1120 S. George Mason Dr., for a local-friendly holiday market: crafts, gifts, and goodies created by neighbors and community residents. Free to attend, free parking, and all the warm-fuzzy good-vibes of supporting local makers and connecting with the hood.

Sunday

🎄 Where to Find Your Christmas Tree — Arlington & Falls Church
The tree-lot lineup is officially live: from fresh Fraser firs at Clarendon United Methodist Church and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, to wreaths and fire-pit hot-chocolate vibes at Meadows Farms Nurseries & Landscape in Falls Church — this guide has all the lots, sizes, and weekend openings so you can skip the big-box hunt and get straight to tree-finding.

🍽️ Restaurant News

🥐 Maman — Courthouse (Now Open)
The wait is over — Maman has officially opened its doors in Courthouse. The French-inspired café held its grand opening on Nov. 14 and is now serving its full lineup of pastries, tartines, salads, soups, and a very aesthetic latte situation. The space is classic Maman: cozy vintage décor, floral touches, and even a kids’ play area. Find it on the ground floor of The Commodore at 2055 15th St. N. Perfect for a slow morning, a cute coffee date, or pretending you’ve suddenly become someone who journals. Info HERE

🍣 Neko Panchi Sushi — Rosslyn (Now Open)
The team behind Yume Sushi just opened Neko Panchi inside Upside on Moore, and it’s already one of the most fun additions to Rosslyn’s food scene. The menu leans playful — think build-your-own sushi “sandwiches,” bao buns, and signature rolls with names like Hell Yeah! and Another One. Soft-shell crab, chicken teriyaki, spicy crab, crispy rice… it’s all happening. Find it at 1700 N. Moore St. inside the new food hall, and consider your lunch plans upgraded.

🥗 Life Alive Organic Café — Ballston (Now Open)
Ballston just scored Virginia’s first Life Alive Organic Café, the Massachusetts-born spot known for its bright, wholesome bowls and “positive eating” vibes. The menu is stacked with feel-good staples — Spicy Peanut Noodles, Mighty Greens Salad, Crispy Falafel Pita, Miso Eggplant & Crispy Rice — plus cold-pressed juices, açaí bowls, and organic espresso drinks (the Caramel Sea Salt Latte and Vanilla Tahini Latte are already crowd favorites). Find it at 818 N. Quincy St., and prepare to feel wildly healthy just for walking in.
