Happy Thursday from Lancelot!

Happy Thursday Bagel Bites,

This week’s lineup has range in the best way. Thursday is a free outdoor movie in Rosslyn (bring a blanket, pretend you’re low-maintenance), Friday is either a very legit comedy competition or live music depending on your mood, and Saturday gives you a “do something different” plan with Columbia Pike Open Studios. Then Sunday gets delightfully weird: you can drink a beer while learning about Persephone (goth spring goddess energy) at Profs & Pints. And if your groupchat only speaks in restaurant recs, don’t worry—Clarendon has two new spots coming soon, Arlington/Falls Church restaurants just got a big awards nod, and Restaurant Week is here.

Scroll on to plan your weekend right.

📅 Your Weekend in Arlington

Thursday

🎬🍿 Free Outdoor Movie: Freaky Friday (Rosslyn Pop-Up Park) — Thu. (6:00 PM)
If you want a Thursday plan that’s cute, low-effort, and costs exactly $0, Rosslyn Cinema is screening Freaky Friday at the Pop-Up Park. Bring a blanket or low chair, grab takeout nearby, and enjoy peak throwback comfort-movie energy—Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis body-swapping under the open sky. The move is showing up a little early to claim a good spot. Info HERE

Friday

😂🍻 Dead Horse Comedy (Crystal City Sports Pub) — Fri., Apr. 17 (7:00 PM)
This one’s actually a great find: Dead Horse Comedy is bringing 25 up-and-coming DMV comedians to Crystal City, all competing for a spot in the Burbank Comedy Festival—and the audience votes. There’s also a surprise headliner to close it out, so it’s not just open-mic vibes. Tickets are $15–$20, and the plan is simple: show up at 7, grab a drink, and let someone else be funny for you for once.

🎸🍷 Live Music: Richard Hostelley (Ballston Local) — Fri., Apr. 17 (8:30 PM)
For a Friday that’s more “catch up over drinks” than “scream over a DJ,” Ballston Local has Richard Hostelley—singer-songwriter vibes that are perfect for a lower-key night. Show up around 8:30, grab a seat, and let the soundtrack do the heavy lifting. Info HERE

🎶🍻 Live Music: SideTracked (The Renegade – Clarendon) — Fri., Apr. 17 (9:30 PM)
If you want the opposite vibe—on your feet, singing along, accidentally staying out late—The Renegade’s got SideTracked, a cover-band situation that’s basically built for a Friday night in Clarendon. Arrive early if you want space; arrive later if you want full chaos. Info HERE

Saturday

🎨🏡 Columbia Pike Open Studios (S. Walter Reed Dr.) — (2:00–5:00 PM)
A really good “do something different” plan: 21 local artists are opening their studios along South Walter Reed Drive so you can wander in, see what they’re making, and actually meet the people behind the work. It’s free, no registration—just show up, bounce between spaces, and enjoy a vibe that’s way more neighborly than the usual bar circuit.

Sunday

🧠🍺 Profs & Pints: “Goddess of Spring and the Underworld” (Highline RxR – Crystal City) — Sun., Apr. 19 (6:00–8:30 PM)
Okay, this is the weird-in-a-good-way Sunday plan: you’re at a bar, but instead of watching sports, you’re getting a mini-lecture on Persephone—aka spring goddess + underworld queen, basically a goth girl with a flower crown. The talk digs into the Hades/Persephone myth, the Eleusinian Mysteries, and modern retellings like Hadestown and Lore Olympus. Advance tickets are listed at $13.50 (doors $17, or $15 with student ID), and the talk starts 30 minutes after doors.

🍽️ Restaurant News

🍸🌴 The Boulevard + Solset are coming to Clarendon — (late Apr./early May, date TBD)
The old Wilson Hardware space on Wilson Blvd is getting a full glow-up: The Boulevard (main floor — modern American + Asian fusion, in collaboration with the Ceibo team) and Solset (rooftop bar — Tulum-meets-Ibiza energy, “sunset cocktails” vibes) are aiming to open late April or early May. It’s from Antonis Karagounis (the guy behind Decades and Zebbie’s Garden in D.C.), so if you’ve been to either of those, you can probably picture the scene. Early menu teases include lamb slider bao buns, steak frites, and a chaotic-sounding “Breakfast Fizz” (rum + Froot Loops-infused coconut milk… with cereal on the side). Respectfully: we’ll report back. Info HERE

🏆🍽️ RAMMY finalists: Arlington + Falls Church made the list — (voting + winners dates inside)
The RAMMYS (RAMW’s big annual restaurant awards) just dropped their 2026 finalists, and 10 Arlington/Falls Church spots are in the mix. Highlights: Taqueria Xochi is up for Casual Restaurant of the Year, and Andy’s Pizza, Call Your Mother, and Queen Mother’s Kitchen all landed Fast Casual Restaurant of the Year finalist spots. Solace Outpost is a finalist for Beer Program of the Year, and Ruthie’s All Day is up for Best Brunch—which is decided by public vote (April 20–May 17). Winners get announced June 29 (ceremony at Arena Stage, with the post-awards party at The Anthem). Info HERE

🍽️ McLean Restaurant Week — Apr. 12–19
McLean’s getting its own Restaurant Week moment: April 12–19, participating spots will roll out prix-fixe menus, bundled meal deals, and other promos—perfect for a “let’s try somewhere new” dinner without committing to a whole anniversary-level reservation. It’s the inaugural run, so expect a solid mix of neighborhood favorites and newer places leaning into the deals. Info HERE
