Happy Thursday from Quetzal!

Happy Thursday Bagel Bites,

Okay, this is a restaurant week disguised as a weekend guide. We’ve got three new openings to add to your rotation: Clarendon’s getting a shiny new rooftop situation (Boulevard + Solset), Langston Blvd just got a serious pizza glow-up (Zesto), and Falls Church is officially in its Detroit-style era (Little Beast). Event-wise: Thursday and Friday are for the girls who’ve been seeing “mahj” everywhere and finally want in (Mahj & Margs, then the FlashMahj social tournament), Saturday is a wholesome wander at the Rosslyn Spring Market, and Sunday is your “go with a friend, browse, leave with something cute” plan at SPARK: Not Your Usual Art Market.

Scroll on to plan your weekend right.

📅 Your Weekend in Arlington

Thursday

🍹🀄️ Ladies Night: Mahj & Margs (Montahj Social) — Thu., Apr. 30 (6:00 PM–close)
If you’ve ever wanted to learn mahjong without joining someone’s aunt’s formal club, this is your sign. Montahj is doing a ladies night that’s basically “show up cute, sip a margarita, and be a little competitive”—with $45 tickets that include a welcome marg + light bites, plus $10 drink specials all night. It’s the perfect Thursday plan if your groupchat wants something social that isn’t just “meet at a bar and stand there.”

Friday

🀄️🍹 FlashMahj Social Tournament & Reception (Montahj Social – Ballston Exchange) — Fri., May 1 (3:00–11:00 PM)
If you’ve been seeing “mahj” everywhere and wondering how people got into it, this is your in: social play + prizes + music + drink specials + shopping, with complimentary light bites. It’s $25 to register, and you can show up for a few rounds or make it your whole Friday night plan. 4201 Wilson Blvd.

Saturday

🌷🛍️ Rosslyn Spring Market (NOW Pop-Up Park – Rosslyn) — Sat., May 2 (10:00 AM–3:00 PM)
If you want a Saturday plan that’s wholesome but still fun to browse, Rosslyn’s Spring Market is basically “Mother’s Day gifts + cute vendors” in one easy lap. Expect local makers, florals, and the low-stakes dopamine hit of a Turning the Page low-priced book sale (plus live music 1–3 PM). It’s free, and a great “grab coffee and wander” kind of morning.

Sunday

🌿🎨 SPARK! Not Your Usual Art Market (2700 Art Space) — Sun., May 3 (10:00 AM–2:00 PM)
This is a great “Sunday daytime hang” that isn’t just brunch: an outdoor market with handpicked art + food vendors, plus programming like poetry, music, and interactive art-making. It’s free, super walkable if you’re in the Shirlington-ish area, and very “go with a friend, wander, leave with something cute.” 2700 S. Nelson St. Info HERE

🍽️ Restaurant News

🍸🌴 Boulevard + Solset Open in Clarendon — Opening Apr. 29
Clarendon’s getting a big new rooftop moment: Boulevard is opening in the former Wilson Hardware space with American-meets-Asian dishes and a stacked chef lineup (including returning Wilson Hardware chef Homero González, plus Bayron Navarro and Ceibo’s Chef Juan “Nacho” Olivera consulting). The menu leans fun and a little fancy—think lamb slider bao buns, king salmon tiradito with yuzu leche de tigre, cavatelli with king mushrooms, sushi, and spicy salmon ceviche. Upstairs, the rooftop bar Solset is the lighter-bites-and-cocktails lane (yes, including Gibsons paired with caviar). 2915 Wilson Blvd., Arlington (Clarendon). Info HERE

🍕 Zesto Pizza Opens in Yorktown — New as of Apr. 17
Citi Pizza & Wings just got a full glow-up: it’s now Zesto Pizza, with a new owner, new menu, and very serious crust energy. Their NY-style dough uses organic flour and ferments 48–72 hours, and the sauce is made in-house with San Marzano tomatoes—but the toppings are where it gets fun. You can keep it classic-ish (hello Bee Sting: pepperoni + mozzarella + honey) or go full adventurous with Korean Beef Bulgogi (marinated beef, kimchi, gochujang sauce, mozzarella). They’ve also got salads, wings, calzones, and house-made pasta. 5127 Langston Blvd., Arlington (Yorktown). Info HERE

🍕 Little Beast Opens in Falls Church — Opened Apr. 29
Falls Church just got a new Detroit-style pizza spot: Little Beast (with two D.C. locations) has officially crossed the river. The space is kid-friendly and covered in bright monster art by German street artist Kim Köster, but the menu’s for everyone—think buffalo wings, a fresh watermelon-corn-avocado salad, and thick-crust Detroit pies named after Detroit neighborhoods. One standout: the 6 Mile with brick cheese blend, salami + pepperoni, pickled jalapeños, tomato sauce, and spicy honey. 119 E. Broad St., Falls Church. Info HERE
