Happy Thursday from Alanna Schloss’s dog!

Happy Thursday Bagel Bites,

Arlington’s bagel era is officially having a moment: two new spots are in the works, and your future self is going to be very grateful you saw this before the groupchat starts debating where to go. On the plans side, we’ve got a massive used book sale (bring a tote), a free wine tasting (bring your best “I can totally taste notes of something” face), a Friday art opening, and a Saturday night Bollywood Holi party for anyone trying to go out-out. Then Sunday brings us back to earth with the Columbia Pike Farmers Market reset.

Scroll on to plan your weekend right.

📅 Your Weekend in Arlington

Thursday

📚 Huge Used Book Sale (Arlington Central Library)Mar. 5–8 (10 AM–5 PM) Book lovers, rejoice! The Arlington Central Library is hosting a massive used book sale featuring thousands of titles across all genres. Perfect for stocking up on your reading list or finding that hidden gem! Plus, who doesn’t love a good deal? Swing by and support your local library while scoring some literary treasures. More info HERE.

🍷 Free Wine Tastings (Crystal City Wine / National Landing) — Mar. 6 (5-7 PM)
If your ideal weeknight plan is “one quick glass” that somehow turns into learning words like tannins, National Landing lists recurring wine tastings at 220 20th St—typically a 4-wine lineup curated by the shop. Dates/times aren’t reliably showing on my end for the current schedule, so I’d treat this as a “bookmark it and check before you go” kind of thing. FREE

Friday

🎨 McLean Art Gallery March Show Opening Reception (McLean)Mar. 6 (5-7 PM) Art enthusiasts: The McLean Art Gallery is unveiling its March show with an opening reception that celebrates local talent. Mingle with artists, enjoy light refreshments, and soak in the creative vibes. It’s a great chance to discover new favorites and support the arts community! Don’t miss it! More info HERE.

Saturday

🎨💃 DMV’s Raasleela: Bollywood Holi Party (Darna Nightclub) — Sat., Mar. 7 (10:00 PM–3:00 AM)
If you want a “go out-out” night with full theme energy, Darna’s doing Holi After Dark—think Bollywood + party anthems, neon paints/glow favors, and professional face painters so you can show up cute in white or neon and leave… significantly more colorful. It’s 21+ with physical ID required, and tickets start around $29 (prices go up as tiers sell out). 📍 946 N. Jackson St., Arlington. Info HERE

Sunday

🥕 Columbia Pike Farmers Market (Pike Park) — Sundays (9:00 AM–1:00 PM)
Your easiest Sunday reset: coffee in hand, a slow lap around Pike Park, and suddenly you’re the kind of person who buys produce and believes you’ll cook this week. The market runs every Sunday, 9–1, right at Pike Park in front of the Walgreens at Columbia Pike & S. Walter Reed—with local vendors (produce, baked goods, and plenty of “treat yourself” snacks). 🍽️ Restaurant News

🥯 Bagel Uprising is coming to Ballston — (opening date TBD)
Ballston’s bagel era continues: Bagel Uprising is planning a second location, joining the wave of new bagel spots headed to Arlington. If you know the Del Ray original, it started as small-batch, boiled-and-baked bagels (after founder Chad Breckinridge first sold at the Four Mile Run Farmers & Artisans Market), and the new Ballston shop is expected to add even more house-made items beyond the bagels. It’ll be right by the soon-to-open second Ballston Metro entrance—aka prime “grab a sandwich on the way” territory. 901 N. Glebe Rd., Arlington (Ballston). Info HERE

🥪🍸 Buffalo & Bergen is still in the works for Clarendon — (opening date TBD)
File this under “worth the wait”: chef Gina Chersevani is still working on bringing Buffalo & Bergen to Clarendon—her soda-counter-meets-deli-meets-cocktail-bar concept inspired by a Brooklyn soda shop that meant a lot to her family. When it lands, expect peak comfort-food energy (New York-water bagels, brisket Reubens, knishes, etc.) plus a genuinely fun cocktail list that goes classic and creative. Basically: a future “late brunch into one drink” spot. 1028 N. Garfield St., Arlington (Clarendon). Info HERE
